Tips on Choosing Art
How to Choose Art for Your Home
Rule #1: Only buy what you LOVE!
Choose by Theme to support your interior design. For example; Southwest, Contemporary, or Tuscan.
Choose by Color to support a color scheme in a room. Hanging a painting that contains the all or most of the accent colors in your room will bring the whole 'look' together. You can even choose your color scheme around your favorite painting!
Choose by Mood What kind of atmosphere so you want to set? relaxing and soothing, vibrant and exciting, or are you looking for a conversation piece?
Buy in Sets When possible buy pieces in sets of two, three or four. This will keep your look focused in color and style and will often be enough to 'outfit' a whole room.
Mix and Match Go eclectic. If you love it, it will work together!

How to Choose Art for Your Home Office

Choose Something that Inspires and makes you happy when you look at it.

Don’t Let your office walls become the catch all of mishmashed art pieces for lack of any other place to hang them. A scattered environment will lead to scattered disconnected thoughts. You’ll be more productive in a work space that you actually want to be in. Choose your decor deliberately. You deserve it!

How to Choose Art for the Professional Office

Uniformity is key!

  DO consider these:

· Choose pieces done by a single Artist in the same style or color palette

· Show uniform content. For example, all waterfalls, all seascapes or all abstracts
DO – keep frames simple and sleek. Very ornate frames tend to be too ‘homey’ looking. Consider going frame-less with gallery wrapped pieces.
DO - Choose pieces that fit your target market!

· Tropical settings for a travel agency

· Botanical or Subdued Abstracts for a Spa

· Waterways and Lakes for a Boat Shop

· Sweeping Panoramic Landscapes or Florals for a Mortuary

· Rugged Western scenes for the Big Ranch Real Estate Company
DO - choose pieces that help sell the ‘dream’ that you’re selling. Pieces that help support your unique selling position or your benefit offer.

DO – Hang Art. People are more comfortable in environments that are welcoming, deliberate and well thought out. When in doubt stay neutral; nature scenes have universal appeal.

DON'T- Go eclectic. Confused messages and business don’t mix

DON'T – Use inflammatory subject matter
